  • December 2022: New PhD position available in the EMC: We are looking for a doctoral student in transmission electron microscopy of ferroelectric mulitlayers as of February 2023 or upon agreement.
  • October 2022: Dr. Alexander Vogel successfully defended his PhD thesis at ETH on 21 October 2022: Role of interfaces and structural defects in ferroelectric thin films. Congratulations! PhD thesis Nr. 7 of Empa's Electron Microscopy Group.

  • FEI Titan Themis: Empa's Electron Microscopy Center goes sub-Ångström. The new FEI Titan Themis has been put into operation end of 2016. The new microscope will be used for high-resolution imaging, analytics and in-situ measurements. First liquid cell measurements of nucleation reactions have been carried out successfully.
